Saudi IoT, Riyadh, January 30, 2018 (Tuesday) – Prince sultaN UniversitY (PSU), a leading Saudi non-profit private university established in 1999, and machinestalk, a leading Saudi IoT solutions provider active for more than 12 years in the Saudi IoT market, announced today that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the transformation of PSU into a Smart Campus/University based on LoRaWAN™ Technology (LoRa Wide Area Network), and to cooperate for nurturing Saudi talents in Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.
“In line with Saudi Vision 2030 and the Digital Transformation imperative, we, at Prince sultaN UniversitY, are actively advancing Saudi capabilities in Internet of Things through developing special curriculum, research and development, and a specialized Robotics and Internet of Things Lab”, said Dr. Mamdouh Alenezi, Chief Information & Technology Officer (CITO) at PSU. He also added: “Further, we are pleased to enter into this collaboration with machinestalk through this MoU, which will help in the digital transformation of our campus/university into a Smart Campus. “At machinestalk we believe that IoT is no longer an option for cities and communities wishing to fully embrace the new digital era, and we believe that the LoRaWAN™ Technology is the best option amongst LPWAN technologies (Low Power Wide Area Network) to materialize this today”, said Eng. Mohammed Sayyaf Al-Khushail, Chairman of machinestalk “We will work, God willing, together with Prince sultaN UniversitY, to craft IoT solutions that will enable its transformation into a Smart Campus. Further to this, being fully aware of one of the key challenges facing IoT deployment in Saudi Arabia, we will work together with PSU to nurture talents and develop the skillsets needed by the IoT market, by having students participate in developing and implementing the Smart Campus solutions.
